Dufur, Ore. – Lighting strikes had minimal impact on mop-op efforts on the Larch Creek Fire today. Day crews continued to target hot spots that were detected using infrared (IR) flights overnight. Hot spots that were buried during suppression efforts and are not visible to fire crews are being identified with IR technology and extinguished.
Incident Management Team 2 remains diligent and focused on the Larch Creek Fire despite multiple other fires popping up in the state. The leader’s intent is clear: secure this fire and leave it in good shape.
Tomorrow, mop-up activities will continue as fire personnel also begin plans to address suppression repair by identifying locations for repair efforts.
Evacuation orders continue to be lifted by Wasco County Sheriff’s Office. As of today, at 6 p.m. there are no longer any Level 3 “go now” evacuation orders. Pine Hollow Reservoir is fully open for recreational activities. Wasco County Sheriff’s Office will review evacuation levels again tomorrow, July 18.
